Our history

  • 2018

The origin of SEET lies in the programme "Back on Track Zurich" of the SAO Association. At that time, in 2018, a part of the current team was able to gain first experiences in setting up a study support programme for refugee women and implement a pilot project with three participants.

  • 2020

At the beginning of 2020, the strategic decision was made to become independent as the "Back on Track Zurich" team and to found an own non-profit association. Thus, SEET was founded in May of 2020. Right in the first year, to our delight, we saw a strong growth of the team which led to a first-year with eight mentoring pairs. Our efforts were rewarded that same year with the Young Caritas Award for particularly sustainable projects!

  • 2021

SEET was able to start the second round with 10 mentee-mentor pairs. Since then, we have been able to steadily improve and grow our support programme. Not only has the number of SEET team members increased, but we are also able to support more mentees on their way to Swiss universities each year.

  • 2022

SEET continued to grow in the 3rd year: the participants from 13 mentoring teams achieved 2 completed internships, 1 permanent position, 1 apprenticeship start and 1 university admission.

  • 2023

This year, the 4th SEET cohort started again with a new record number of participants: We were able to accompany a total of 18 mentoring teams on their journey!

  • 2024

We were able to increase our number of participants again this year and are now able to support 33 mentoring pairs! We are now accepting not only refugee women, but also men and non-binary people into our program.

  • 2025

In 2025, the number of participants increased again: we were able to accept a total of 38 mentees into our program. Of these, 28 are supported by a total of 25 mentors. We were able to accept 10 mentees without the support of mentors.
